Greetings and Welcome to a Brand New Year! As is our tradition, we kick the year off with a look back at the best of the last year we had to offer with our annual ‘Top 5 List’. As is our tradition, these are articles that really resonated with either me or my audience and I use this annual Top 5 post to give them another run through the spotlight. They are listed by the date they were published. This year, I think because of the way I wrote the articles, the ones getting highlighted are bunched at the beginning and the end of the year. Regardless of when they are posted, these are some amazing articles. Enjoy!

1. Layoff Survival: Don’t Say It, Even If It’s True — Posted February 6th.

Our first article highlight for the year is all about preparing for a potential layoff. Unfortunately, the information given from HR professionals about how they choose who to let go is frustrating to hear. If you read how they think, the best way to survive is to keep your mouth shut, and not speak the truth of the situation. I thought this article was fascinating in that it really underscores how you have to be a corporate robot with a fake positive attitude, even in the face of chaos.

2. The Value of Being Outspoken — Posted March 20th

There are tons of negatives to being the most outspoken individual in any professional group, not the least of which is that it puts a great big target on you. This is something that, sadly, I have a ton of experience with. That being said, sometimes there are some benefits to being outspoken. This article talks all about those benefits.

3. Aggressive Ignorance: Is There Really A Solution? — Posted April 17th

Some people are ignorant, angry, and they like it that way. Can anything change this? This is the tough question asked by this article.

4. How Can You Come To Terms That You Aren’t A Good Fit For Your Job? — Posted October 16th

Many many many people spend years of their life working in a job that they simply aren’t a good fit for. It’s an easy trap to get stuck in because of the inertia inherent in our careers. Once we have a job title attached to our names, that’s what employers want to hire you for. This article helps you figure out if you are a good fit, and if you aren’t, it gives some good tips on how to transition into something better.

5. How Do You Know Where You Are? — Posted November 13th

This article is all about figuring out where you are in life with a focus on being as unbiased as possible. I say this because we are all biased based upon our experiences and environment. If you can figure out a way to see how you are really doing, you’ll know if you need to start appreciating what you have or if you need to kick it into high gear!

As we continue chronicling the collision points between work and life, I’d like to say Thank You to all those who helped support Peluso Presents in 2023 with reading or listening and sharing on social media. On the note of sharing and supporting, don’t forget I don’t get paid for this formally so I still accept Tips! (The info on how to do that is below) We have a great slate of articles scheduled for 2024, so we hope you’ll subscribe, and enjoy these upcoming articles, and as my dad used to say: Make it a Great Year!
